Sony Unveils Special Edition PS5 Console and Spider-Man 2 Story Trailer Showcasing Venom Details
During the ongoing Comic Con, Insomniac Games unveiled a new story trailer and shared details about a special edition PS5 console for Sony’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is set to launch on October 20th this year. This comes after a gameplay-focused trailer was released in May’s PlayStation Showcase.
The trailer opens with Harry Osborne having a friendly conversation with Peter Parker. Harry says he’s “getting a second chance” and wants to “make the world better.” The trailer then cuts to a shot of the main characters, including a new, updated character model for Mary Jane Watson (MJ) and a slightly more grown-up version of Miles Morales – another Spider-Man with a new hairstyle.
We also see the hunter Kraven and his men fighting the Spider-Men. And Peter Parker tells Mary Jane about Kraven being “some kind of” hunt. Miles Morales then explains his struggles and comes face to face with the returning Mr. Negative – the man who killed his father.
Mid-scene, a voice, presumably Miles’, says, “What’s going on with Pete?” To this, Mary Jane replies, “He’s not himself,” likely implying that the Venom symbiote has taken control of him and now controls his body. As we’ve seen before, Peter Parker becomes violent when under the influence of the symbiote.
The trailer also shows Peter Parker looking out over New York City with a husky voice in the background that sounds like Venom saying, “We’re going to heal the world.” If you’re paying attention, that’s what Harry Osborne says right at the beginning of this trailer. This could mean that Harry Osborne is Venom – but this is just a theory. Another possibility is that someone else is Venom and this is just a play by Insomniac Games trying to attract players. The trailer ends with a perfect flash of Venom wreaking havoc on the city – destroying helicopters, jumping off buildings and growling.

In addition to the new trailer, a later trailer was also released that revealed a special edition PS5 console. The special edition PS5 features unique side plates based on the game’s red and black theme, digital code from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and a special edition DualSense controller with a similar aesthetic.
However, Sony has made sure that existing PS5 owners can also recreate the look, with both the special edition side plates and the DualSense controller available as separate accessories. Pre-orders for the package, sideboards and controller are expected to appear in India by the end of this month. We will update this article when we get basic information from Sony India.
